Converting Fractions to Decimals to Percents

- Grade Level: 5th/6th Grade

- Topic:  The topic of this video is how to convert a fraction into a decimal, and then the decimal into a percentage.

- How I plan to use this video in my future classroom:  I plan on using this video in my future classroom by going through my lesson on decimals, fractions, and percentages and then, again, reinforcing the lesson with a video with step-by-step problems to show how to do the work.


- How I think showing this video clip will add value to my students' learning:  I think showing this video will add value to my students' learning by giving them that extra assistance and guidance through a topic that isn't always the easiest to learn.  This video gives many different problems that are solved with the same techniques to get the decimals and percentages.

Adding and Subtracting Fractions with Unlike Denominators

- Grade Level:  5th/6th Grade

- Topic:  How to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators

- How I plan to use this video in my future classroom:  I plan on using this video in my future classroom by going over my lesson and then showing the video to reinforce the steps to getting like denominators in order to add and subtract fractions.

- How I think showing this video clip will add value to my students' learning:  I think showing this video will add value to my students' learning by showing them step by step, in a handful of problems, how to add and subtract fractions together with unlike denominators.  The narrator in this video shows everything in detail and gives a list of rules in the corner to follow as you go along through the problems.

Converting Decimals to Fractions

- Topic:  How to convert a decimal into a fraction

- How I plan to use this video in my future classroom:  I plan on using this video in my future classroom to help my students gain an easier understanding of how to convert any decimal into a fraction.  This video can be used in my future classroom during the decimals, fractions, and percents unit of the math class.

- How I think showing this video clip will add value to my students' learning:  I think showing this video clip will add value to my students' learning because it makes the technique really easy to remember and the narrator of the video goes to great length to discuss how to remember placement of decimals and simplifying fractions.
